Fate, however, has plans of its own, causing their lives to collide in a river town whorehouse. Forced to flee, Lorie escapes and joins them on the journey north. At last, Lorie must come to terms with her past and devastating secrets that she cannot yet bear to reveal.
Heart of a Dove is the first book in a gripping, sweeping romantic saga of pain, unbearable choices, loss and true love set against the backdrop of a scarred, post-Civil War America.

“Set just after the U.S. Civil War, this passionate opening volume of a projected series successfully melds historical narrative, women’s issues, and breathless romance with horsewomanship, trailside deer-gutting, and alluring smidgeons of Celtic ESP.” ~ Publishers Weekly
“There is a lot I liked about this book. It didn’t pull punches, it feels period, it was filled with memorable characters and at times lovely descriptions and language. Even though there is a sequel coming, this book feels complete.” ~ Dear Author
“With a sweet romance, good natured camaraderie, and a very real element of danger, this book is hard to put down.” ~ San Francisco Book Review
Soul of a Crow, book two
It is 1868 and the country is still reeling from the brutal effects of the Civil War. Lorie Blake, a war-orphan who escaped the miserable prison of her life as a prostitute in a Missouri whorehouse, now takes wing, embarking on a breathtaking overland journey northwest. Grace of a Hawk, book three – coming January, 2018
Reaching his remaining family in Minnesota has been former Confederate soldier Boyd Carter’s plan since his journey northward began. Accompanied by his brother Malcolm, the two depart Iowa in the late summer of 1868 beneath a cloud of uncertainty, leaving behind longtime friends Sawyer and Lorie Davis, with promises to reunite in the spring. Also left behind is Rebecca Krage, a woman of quiet passion and grace, whose deep love for Boyd Carter remains unconfessed.
U. S. Marshal Thomas Yancy has been missing since his desperate flight from Rebecca Krage’s homestead. Despite assurance that the Yancys will trouble them no longer, Lorie Davis is not convinced. Her and Sawyer’s recent joyful discovery is soon overshadowed by the arrival of information that Boyd and Malcolm never reached their destination in the North. Somewhere between Iowa City and St. Paul, the two brothers have apparently vanished. Their paths, interwoven by fate, and their collective strength, must again be tested as they face the greatest threat to their lives yet.

THE SHORE LEAVE CAFE SERIES
Jump on in!
Summer at the Shore Leave Café, book one
Joelle Gordon is leaving Chicago and her cheating husband to head for her hometown of Landon, Minnesota. There, she returns to the Shore Leave Café, the lakeside diner the Davis women have run for decades. Joelle’s family, including her three teenaged daughters, Camille, Tish, and Ruthann, is made up of strong women who have long believed in a curse upon them – a curse that robs them of the men they love.
This summer has plenty in store for Joelle. Finding herself confronted with the reality of single motherhood, the last thing she expects is gorgeous, passionate Blythe Tilson, a summer employee at Shore Leave, with an uncertain past. Can Joelle resist the temptation of a younger man, and does she dare to consider loving someone again, or will the Davis family curse prove all too true?
A story about heartbreak, blame, family, destiny, and the difficulties of returning home, Summer at the Shore Leave Café is the first book in the Shore Leave series.
Second Chances, book two
The past summer has been a wild ride for Joelle Gordon, in more ways than one. After discovering her husband cheating, she fled Chicago for her small-town childhood home in Landon, Minnesota. There, her family’s lakeside diner, the Shore Leave Café, remains unchanged.
Yet nothing else in Landon is the same, including her family of women, her three teenaged daughters, Camille, Tish, and Ruthann, and the intense, passionate love she has found with Blythe Tilson. Now Blythe is in trouble and Jackson is back in Landon, rethinking the divorce. Joelle must face one of the most difficult and important decisions of her life – or will the Davis family curse ruin any chances of finding love?
A Notion of Love, book three
Twelve years ago, Jillian Henriksen Davis cut off all her hair and placed it in her young husband’s hands as he was buried. After his tragic accident, she clung to the only remaining stability she had – her young son Clint, her family of women, and her job at their lakeside diner, the Shore Leave Café.
Now it is summer again, and change is in the hot and humid air. Jillian’s sister, Joelle, and her teenaged nieces, Camille, Tish, and Ruthann, have come home to Landon, bringing a welcome distraction. And then there is Justin Miller, longtime family friend, brooding and sexy, but damaged after a terrible accident five years earlier. Will Jilly and Justin risk their broken hearts – and the Davis family curse – to take a chance on lasting love?
Winter at the White Oaks Lodge, book four
A gorgeous stranger in an old photograph. A desperate search from another century. And a mystery Camille Gordon cannot resist.
It has been two years since Camille discovered that she was going to be a teenage mother. Abandoned by her child’s father, Camille is determined that she and her daughter will make it on their own.
When she discovers an old picture hidden in a trunk in her grandmother’s attic, Camille is at once drawn to the man in the image, standing near his horse in the light of a long-ago sunset. The haunting photo leads her to the Carters, who run the nearby inn, White Oaks Lodge. Each clue brings her closer to her own destiny – a true love so intense not even time can wither it.
Wild Flower, book five
Three years have passed since Joelle Gordon came home to Landon, Minnesota, following her heart back to her family of women and their little café on Flickertail Lake. Joelle, her sister Jillian, and her daughter Camille, have grown closer through the shared heartaches and passionate loves they have found since that first summer.
Now the Shore Leave Café is again basking under the brilliant June sunshine, and this summer promises to be hotter than ever. Jillian is pregnant with her third child, but her happy life is threatened by Justin’s ex-wife, and a frightening stranger who arrived unexpectedly at the lake. Camille, plagued by dreams of a girl with haunted eyes, cannot shake her fear of losing Mathias. A journey into the mountain country of Montana is where she counts on finding answers – or will her actions only fulfill a Davis family curse?
The First Law of Love, book six
Tish Gordon has always been the most stubborn of her sisters, and has worked tirelessly to earn a law degree from her father’s alma mater in Chicago. Although the Shore Leave Café will always be in her heart, Tish wants nothing short of a high-profile career in corporate law in the glamorous city where she was born. There is just one minor roadblock – a summer internship as a favor to her future boss. Location: Jalesville, Montana, where a fast-talking company is snapping up acreage and threatening local business.
Tish heads west, determined to accomplish the internship and return to Chicago as quickly as possible. But Montana proves to have distractions of its own, catching her quite off guard. Particularly in the form of sexy musician/cowboy Case Spicer, who once told Tish she was the love of his life. As the summer heats to a boiling point, Tish must choose between the life she thinks she wants and the life that just might prove to be what she needs.
Until Tomorrow, book seven, coming in 2017
A devastating fire and unanswered questions have left Tish Gordon reeling. With her true love in critical condition in a Montana hospital, and secrets from the past and present continuing to haunt her, Tish is more determined than ever to prove just who is responsible for this destruction in her life.
Tish’s family has come from Minnesota to be at her side, including her younger sister Ruthann, who Marshall Rawley has been in love with for years. Ruthann, just a step away from being engaged to her boyfriend back home, wants only to help Tish discover answers. What Ruthann is not expecting to find is a mysterious, dangerous link to the past, and a powerful love that not even time can destroy.
The Way Back, book eight, coming in 2018
Ruthann Gordon has disappeared.
Swept away by powerful circumstances beyond her control, Ruthann awakens in a place far removed from what she has ever known. Terrified and alone, fate guides her path to people she is certain she has never met, but somehow knows.
Marshall Rawley has also vanished from his hometown of Jalesville, Montana, and there has been no word for months. Trapped in the wild and dangerous past, Ruthann discovers truths she never imagined – and begins to understand her role in saving not only her family, but the family of the man she loves more than her own life.
Return to Yesterday, book nine, coming in 2018
The stakes have never been higher for sisters Camille, Tish, and Ruthann Gordon. Separated by unimaginable circumstances, they must fight to save each other and those they love from Fallon Yancy’s wrath. Destiny has caused their paths to intersect across centuries, a long and treacherous link between the Davis and Yancy families, a link that must now be severed before it is too late.
Mathias Carter, Case Spicer, and Marshall Rawley have dared to love the three sisters despite the ancient family curse. Each has his own fate to contend with, both in the past and in present-day. Ruthann and Marshall must fight to return to the future – or will the unthinkable happen, keeping one of them forever in the past?
The final novel in the Shore Leave Café saga, Return to Yesterday is a heated, tense, action-packed conclusion to the series.
